Pick-ups and lifts
We have use of the Coggeshall Community minibus, thanks to volunteer Derek – you can see on the website here what the minibus looks like, which can carry 15 passengers at a time.
- Please aim to arrive at Kelvedon at any of 1153, 1227, 1251 and 1327.
- You’ll get off the train on Platform 2.
- The car park / pick-up area is towards the front of the train, down a very short flight of steps from Platform 2.
- The minibus will be in a parking bay there ready to leave a few minutes after the train has left – and can wait for any late running trains.
- It takes about 10 minutes to Coggeshall Market Square, where there’s a couple of pubs and places to eat, and which is a pleasant 5 minutes walk up Church Street, to the, err, church, or the bus can drive straight to the church.
Train tickets – We’ll leave you to sort out your tickets. Note there is just one ticket machine at Chappel & Wakes Colne, and the guard on the Sudbury branch line will check and sell tickets. There’s no barriers at Kelvedon or Chappel stations.
Between Church & Chappel
As well as one trip on the minibus, we will have enough spare seats offered in and needed in cars. If we haven’t told you before the day we will have a list of drivers and passengers at the back of the church and look to make any introductions. Please do ask an usher before the service if you think you’ve not got a lift arranged.
There’s a car park in the village centre, less than 10min walk away along Queen Street/ Church Street. There is also on-street parking on East Street close to the Co-op and The Rec (and its play area), with a footpath through to Church Street / Vane Lane.
We suggest if you’re able to arrive and leave on the day by car to use the EARM’s gated overflow car park. If you want to leave cars overnight to pick up on the Sunday, there’s space for about 30 cars on the (unnamed) approach road to the station & museum, and the museum will also let people park in the overflow car park overnight although it won’t be opened until about 10am on the Sunday (conveniently for people who may want to call in to help with the tidy up).
There’s no parking charges or controls of which we are aware.
