Ordinarily, getting a new pair of trainers is fun. It’s good to daydream about the miles that will be run in them. However, I bought a new pair at the weekend knowing they’re the ones I’ll be running the London Marathon in (shameless sponsorship plug here).
I am excited and terrified at the prospect of the marathon in equal parts. I am not so much worried about the distance; it’s a long way, it will be hard, it will take me about five hours to run it. I am concerned about the getting there, getting home again and all the logistics around meeting family at the end. And like many other runners at this time of year I am flat terrified of getting injured.
